October is Principal’s Month

In honor of Principal’s month, which was declared for October by Governor Snyder; included are some facts about our Administrators that you may not be aware of. Please take a moment the next time you see them to say thank them for the contributions they make to the success of our students and Allendale Public Schools.

Ryan Coghill

Elementary Assistant Principal Ryan Coghill

Before becoming an administrator, Mr. Coghill taught 2nd grade for four years and 1st grade for six years.

 

High School Assistant Principal Travis PlainTravis Plain

Education is his 2nd career. He also has a degree in Information Systems and worked in a bank before going back to school to be an educator. Changing careers was the best professional move he ever made!

 

 

New Options High School Principal Tamika Henry.Tamika

Followed in her father’s footsteps; he worked with the most challenging students in the Lansing Public School District for over 25 years.

Middle School Principal Rocky Thompson.

Principal Thompson is third generation educator, in a family of 4 consecutive generations of educators.

 

 

 

 

Jill Wilson, Allendale Public Schools

Elementary Principal Jill Wilson:

This is Principal Wilson’s  33rd year in public education, 32 of those years have been at APS.  Her prior teaching experience helped to shape her current role as a principal.

 

 

 

Oakwood Intermediate Principal Doug Bol:doug_bol_principal_20110421_121318_2

 

Althought Principal Bol’s career in education began in Allendale and currently continues here, he also taught on the east cost, west coast, and overseas in between.

While teaching in Southern California he earned his first masters degree in kinesiology with the thought of teaching at the college level someday.

 

High School Principal Dan Remenap:dan_remenap_20110208_150720_4

Has been one of the keynote speakers for the past 6 years at the Fire UP Conference (GVSU College of Education) for student teachers.

Comes from a long line of educators…his father was his high school
principal, multiple other relatives that are in education, including both his brother and sister who are also teachers.

Currently studying to earn his PhD at Western Michigan University.

 

 

Assistant Principal Chuck Bailey:

Facilitated the moving of the preschool from the New Options building to the Elementary, currently in his fifth year at the Chuck BaileyMiddle School.

Known to play in bands with his students for special events.

Homecoming Festivities Begin

Homecoming 2015 kicked off this afternoon with a Parade starting at the High School and ended at the Middle School. Staff and students alike participated in having a great time.

Allendale Educator Selected for Excellence In Education Award

Each week, the MKeithichigan Lottery recognizes outstanding K-12 teachers and staff who are making a significant impact in the lives of Michigan students. One of Allendale’s own educators was nominated and selected.

APS is proud to announce that Keith Piccard is a recipient of the Excellence in Education Award. Keith traveled to Lansing on September 29, 2015 to accept the award from Tom Izzo. In addition to a $500 cash award, he also received:

· $500 grant to his classroom, school or school district

·  He will be featured during a future WXYZ broadcast

All Excellence in Education award winners are automatically
considered for the Michigan Lottery’s Educator of the Year Award
and a grand prize of $10,000.
