Allendale Art and Photography Students Win Regional Art Competition

safe_imageAllendale Art and Photography students did amazingly well this year at the Regional Scholastic Art Competition. Nine of the best pieces were entered and SEVEN of the nine were selected for awards. There were well over 1,000 entries in this year’s competition (the west central region is a large region encompassing the west half of the state as well as Lansing, Saginaw, and northern lower MI) and our students were selected as 7 of the best pieces from the region. The winning students are:

Grace Wiersema | B&W Photography | “Inflamed- Gold Key (this is the highest regional award and her piece will continue on to the national competition in NYC).
Aubrey Evans- 3 pieces were chosen for awards:
Graphite on Paper drawing | “Suffocation or Compassion” -Silver Key
Charcoal on Paper drawing | “Images” -Silver Key
Pen & Ink on Paper drawing | “Pinecone” – Honorable Mention
Laurel Powers | Pen & Ink on Paper | “Enlarged” – Silver Key
Andrea Archer | B&W Photography | “2:37 PM” – Silver Key
Hannah VerHoef | Graphite on Paper drawing |
“The Good Queen”- Honorable Mention
